Gévelot was one of France’s oldest and most prolific ammunition producers, with roots going back to 1820 when its founder patented the percussion cap. By the Cold War era, their SFM division was churning out millions of rounds for NATO forces across Western Europe. These rounds carry the “SF 79” headstamp with NATO cross, confirming production to NATO STANAG specifications. They were loaded onto DM1 non-disintegrating belts. the German-designed continuous steel belt system developed for the MG3 and its MG42 ancestors. and stockpiled in European military depots as part of NATO’s defense reserves. After decades in arsenal storage, they’ve been released to the surplus market in their original configuration. Loaded on DM1 non-disintegrating belts. 12 belts of 50 rounds each with connecting tabs for sustained fire.
